Something for Nothing
When I'm piecing complex quilt blocks, it's easy to sew pieces together incorrectly (even when I've made a sample block). In anticipation, I always cut enough pieces for a couple extra blocks so I don't need to spend time picking seams out. I lay aside the mispieced block until the quilt top is finished, then add other pieces (borders, setting triangles, etc.) to it until I have a good size for a pillow top. This turns the "mistake" into a coordinating project!
