Beat the Bulk

When machine-quilting for others, I occasionally come across a quilt where the intersections are bulky and difficult to quilt around without the foot getting stuck or causing bumpy stitches. In those cases, I cover the seam with a thick terry towel and pound the intersection flat with a hammer.
