7/8 yard red-and-orange stripe (blocks, binding)
3/4 yard red-and-green floral (blocks)
1/3 yard orange floral (blocks)
5/8 yard green print (blocks)
1/2 yard gold floral (blocks)
1-1/4 yards floral border print (sashing)
1/8 yard red floral (sashing)
3-1/8 yards backing fabric
56" square batting

Finished quilt: 49-1/2" square

Quantities are for 44/45"-wide, 100% cotton fabrics.

Cut Fabrics

Cut pieces in the following order. Fussy-cut sashing strips on lengthwise grain of fabric (parallel to selvages).

From red-and-orange stripe, cut:
6-2-1/2x42" binding strips
8-1-1/2x14-1/2" strips
8-1-1/2x12-1/2" strips

From red-and-green floral, cut:
4-12-1/2" squares

From orange floral, cut:
8-1x15-1/2" strips
8-1x14-1/2" strips

From green print, cut:
8-2-1/8x18-3/4" strips
8-2-1/8x15-1/2" strips

From gold floral, cut:
8-1-3/8x20-1/2" strips
8-1-3/8x18-3/4" strips

From floral border print, fussy-cut:
12-3-1/2x20-1/2" sashing strips

From red floral, cut:

Assemble Blocks

1. Referring to Block Assembly Diagram, sew short red-and-orange stripe strips to opposite edges of a red-and-green floral 12-1/2" square. Join long red-and-orange stripe strips to remaining edges to make block center. Press seams toward strips.

2. Sew short orange floral strips to opposite edges of block center. Join long orange floral strips to remaining edges. Press seams toward strips.

3. Sew short green print strips to opposite edges of a block center. Join long green print strips to remaining edges. Press seams toward strips.

4. Sew short gold floral strips to opposite edges of a block center. Join long gold floral strips to remaining edges to make a block. Press seams toward strips. The block should be 20-1/2" square including seam allowances

5. Repeat steps 1–4 to make four blocks total.

Assemble Quilt Top

1. Referring to Quilt Assembly Diagram, lay out blocks, sashing strips, and sashing squares in five rows.

2. Sew together pieces in each row. Press seams toward sashing strips.

3. Join rows to complete quilt top. Press seams in one direction.

Finish Quilt

1. Layer quilt top, batting and backing; baste.

2. Quilt as desired.

3. Bind with red-and-orange stripe binding strips.
