Easy Floral Wall Hanging

Materials
- 2-3/8-yard pieces assorted ecru prints (blocks)
- 1/3 yard green tone-on-tone (A block)
- 3/8 yard multicolor floral (A block)
- 1/4 yard gold tone-on-tone (A block)
- 1/4 yard pink floral (B and C blocks)
- 1/8 yard light green tone-on-tone (C block)
- 1/4 yard multicolor check (inner border)
- 1 yard green floral (outer border, binding)
- 3 yards backing fabric
- 54" square batting
Finished quilt: 47-1/2" square
Finished blocks: 12" square
Quantities are for 44/45"-wide, 100% cotton fabrics.
Measurements include 1/4" seam allowances. Sew with right sides together unless otherwise stated.
Cut Fabrics
Cut pieces in the following order.
From one ecru print, cut:
- 36--2x3-1/2" rectangles
- 36--2" squares
From second ecru print, cut:
- 16--3-1/2" squares
- 16--2x3-1/2" rectangles
- 16--2" squares
From green tone-on-tone, cut:
- 90--2" squares
From multicolor floral, cut:
- 20--3-1/2" squares
- 20--2x3-1/2" rectangles
- 20--2" squares
From gold tone-on-tone, cut:
- 5--3-1/2x6-1/2" rectangles
- 10--2x3-1/2" rectangles
From pink floral, cut:
- 4--3-1/2x6-1/2" rectangles
- 8--2x3-1/2" rectangles
From light green tone-on-tone, cut:
- 18--2" squares
From multicolor check, cut:
- 2--2x39-1/2" inner border strips
- 2--2x36-1/2" inner border strips
From green floral, cut:
- 5--4-1/2x42" strips for outer border
- 5--2-1/2x42" binding strips
Assemble Block A
1. Referring to Diagram 1, lay out three green tone-on-tone 2" squares, an ecru print No. 1 2" square and 2x3-1/2" rectangle, and a multicolor floral 2" square and 2x3-1/2" rectangle in three rows. Sew together pieces in each row. Press seams toward green squares.
2. Join rows to make a corner unit. Press seams toward center row. The corner unit should be 5" square including seam allowances.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to make 20 corner units total.
4. Sew together a multicolor floral 3-1/2" square and gold tone-on-tone 2x3-1/2" rectangle to make an A side unit (Diagram 2). Press seam toward rectangle. The side unit should be 5x3-1/2" including seam allowances. Repeat to make 10 A side units total.
5. Add multicolor floral 3-1/2" squares to short edges of a gold tone-on-tone 3-1/2x6-1/2" rectangle to make an A center unit (Diagram 3). Press seams toward rectangle. The center unit should be 3-1/2x12-1/2" including seam allowances. Repeat to make five A center units total.
6. Referring to Diagram 4 for placement, lay out four corner units, two A side units, and one A center unit in three vertical rows. Sew together pieces in outer rows. Press seams open. Join rows to make Block A; press seams open. Block A should be 12-1/2" square including seam allowances. Repeat to make five total of Block A.
Assemble Blocks B and C
1. Referring to Diagram 5 and Assemble Block A, use ecru print Nos. 1 and 2, green tone-on-tone, and pink floral pieces to make:
- 8 corner units
- 4 B side units
- 2 B center units
2. Referring to Diagram 5 and Assemble Block A, use Step 1 units to make two of Block B.
3. Referring to Diagram 6 and Assemble Block A, use ecru print No. 1 and 2, light green tone-on-tone, green tone-on-tone, and pink floral pieces to make:
- 8 corner units
- 4 C side units
- 2 C center units
4. Referring to Diagram 6 and Assemble Block A, use Step 3 units to make two of Block C.
Assemble Quilt Center
1. Referring to Quilt Assembly Diagram, sew together blocks in three rows. Press seams in one direction, alternating direction with each row.
2. Join rows to make quilt center. Press seams in one direction. The quilt center should be 36-1/2" square including seam allowances.
Add Borders
1. Sew short multicolor check inner border strips to opposite edges of quilt center. Add long multicolor check inner border strips to remaining edges. Press all seams toward inner border.
2. Cut and piece green floral 4-1/2x42" strips to make:
- 2--4-1/2x47-1/2" outer border strips
- 2--4-1/2x39-1/2" outer border strips
3. Sew short outer border strips to opposite edges of quilt center. Add long outer border strips to remaining edges to complete quilt top. Press all seams toward outer border.
Finish Quilt
1. Layer quilt top, batting, and backing; baste. Quilt as desired.
2. Bind with green floral binding strips.
