Assemble A Blocks

Measurements include 1/4" seam allowances. Sew with right sides together unless otherwise stated.

Press seams in directions indicated by arrows on diagrams. If no direction is specified, press seam toward darker fabric.

1. From one cream print gather eight small triangles and four large triangles. From one assorted print gather one 4-1/2" square and four 3-1/4×6-1/4" rectangles.

2. Referring to Diagram 1, sew cream print small triangles to opposite edges of assorted print 4-1/2" square. Add cream print small triangles to remaining edges to make a Square-in-a-Square unit. Trim unit to 6-1/4" square including seam allowances.

Assemble B Blocks

1. Use a pencil to mark a diagonal line on wrong side of each assorted print 2" square.

2. From one cream print gather four 2" squares, four 2×3-1/2" rectangles, two 3-1/2×6-1/2" rectangles, and two 3-1/2×12-1/2" rectangles. From one assorted print gather one 4-1/2" square and marked 2" squares.

3. Align a marked assorted print square with left-hand end of a cream print 2×3-1/2" rectangle (Diagram 4; note direction of marked line). Sew on marked line.
