Storage Hacks Under $15
Sometimes the easiest way to make a sewing space more organized is by investing in storage products that fit the space and fit your supplies. But that doesn't mean you have to spend a lot of money or time going from store to store. Sometimes, the perfect storage items are found at your local home store or even something you already own. Doris, the editor of Quilt Sampler magazine, shares 15 ways to transform common household items from every room in your house into creative organizational solutions. These items all cost $15 or less.
What's On Your Work Space?
Doris shares a few projects she has on her work space, including a tree skirt and a scrappy Christmas quilt made of Ohio stars and Flying Geese. Doris wanted to keep the momentum of her holiday sewing up, so she can finish her Christmas projects in time for next's year's holiday, as well as keep the cheer levels high through the gloomy winter months.
Ask Us Anything
Alison, the designer of Quilts & More magazine, shares a great tip for trimming multiples of units such as triangle-squares, Flying Geese, and stitch-and-flip units. This cutting method allows you to get the tedious part of trimming done, so you can move on to pressing and sewing more quickly. If you want to see this process in action, you can head over to Alison's Instagram page (@alisongamm) and find the video in the IGTV tab.
Sewing Toolbox
You know the saying "measure twice, cut once"? There are a ton of options on the market if you're looking for quilting rulers and other measuring tools, and it can be overwhelming. Joanna, the editor of Quilts & More, shares a rundown of some common types of measuring tools to help you make informed decisions about which rulers you want in your collection.
Behind-the-Scenes
In 2021, each issue of Quilts & More magazine will have a seasonal table runner designed by Allison Harris of Cluck Cluck Sew. We'll be hosting a fun sew-along for each of the table runners – we think it's a perfect way to make some decor that you can easily switch out every season. The patterns are easy-to-piece, so are great for quilters of every skill level. The spring table runner features gorgeous pieced flowers in bright colors. The sew-along runs from February 5-26.
