Sort Your Scraps

For something so small, scraps can be a BIG problem if you don't have an organization system in place. Lindsay and Doris discuss the basics of sorting and storing your precious scraps. They cover:

  • Questions to ask yourself before choosing a sorting system
  • Sorting by color
  • Sorting by size
  • How they organize their own scraps

If you need more inspiration, check out ways to store fabrics, scrappy quilt patterns, tips for making scrappy quilts, and where to donate scraps.

Getting Sewcial

Lindsay chats with Jessica Vetor (also known as Jessica Quilter). Jessica is a fifth generation quilter, who began her quilting journey in 2001. Jessica loves using her scraps in her quilts. Some of her favorite scrappy patterns are her own Scrap Busting Nine-Patch (free on Instagram) and Maxine Dot quilt patterns (which appeared on the TV show The Walking Dead), as well as the Plaid-ish quilt from Kitchen Table Quilting. She's also a fan of using selvages in her quilts, including in her Selvage Bookshelf and Selvage Spiderweb patterns. If you're looking for great holiday gifts, try her Fabric Bookmarks tutorial on Instagram. Jessica also shares details on how she sorts and organizes her scraps and describes her sewing space.
