Let's Talk Borders
Borders are a great way to finish off a quilt and frame the center design. But it's not as easy as cutting fabric and sewing it to your quilt. Alison Gamm, the designer of Quilts & More magazine, shares some important things to consider when adding borders. The conversation includes tricks for deciding on border width, measuring an un-square quilt for borders, and sewing on borders with waves or puckers.
Jody Sanders chats with Sandra Johnson. Sandra started quilting through a Home Ec class in 1976 and started teaching classes in 1984. Her decades of experience show in her beautiful quilts and garments. Sandra is known for using sashiko and boro techniques in her projects and often uses denim. In the interview, Sandra shares some tips and favorite tools for these techniques. She also dives into her sewing habits, using materials around you to create unique designs, and empowering yourself through your creations. Sandra is teaching at Craft Napa in January 2021 and QuiltCon Together in February 2021. She also has live virtual presentations and workshops available.
