Yellow Creek Quilt Designs
A former bank turned post office is now home to one of the biggest draws in Pearl City, Illinois: Yellow Creek Quilt Designs. Sisters Vicki Olsen and Jill Shaulis specialize in Civil War reproduction prints as well as fabrics in dark traditional shades.

What began in 1989 in a quilting class has blossomed into a full-blown business. Besides operating the shop, sisters Vicki and Jill have created more than 30 different patterns.
Tribute to the Past
Warm reproduction prints and a large selection of wool create a cozy atmosphere at Yellow Creek Quilt Designs. Vicki and Jill put a high priority on preserving the history of Pearl City, which has about 780 residents. With that in mind, they showcase historical memorabilia in their quilt displays.
Cross and Crown
Yellow Creek Quilt Designs co-owner Jill Shaulis designed Cross and Crown for Quilt Sampler® Spring/Summer 2011 magazine.
Margaret Knoup machine-quilted loop designs in the Cross and Crown blocks and inner border. She added stippling in the Courthouse Steps blocks and stitched swirl and wave patterns in the middle and outer borders.
Cross and Crown Color Option
Quilt tester Laura Boehnke gave Cross and Crown a new look with novelty prints. She simplified the design by featuring one Cross and Crown block surrounded by a pieced inner border and wide outer border. Fabrics are from Orchard Park by Nancy Odom for P&B Textiles.
