Quiltique

Quiltique quilt shop in Henderson, Nevada, reflects the Tibesar family's welcoming style with bright, fun, contemporary displays that pop against a background of garden decor.

The 6,400-square-foot shop's inventory is notably youthful, fresh, and imaginative. "People come because it's different," Jennifer says. "They like what we have and know they'll always find something different."

Education is a priority at Quiltique. Classes six days a week range from making traditional quilts to sewing dresses and carryall bags. Basic classes are free, and eight yearly visits from well-known instructors provide national and international quilting perspectives. Quiltique also carries a variety of patterns and books to educate and inspire customers.

Quiltique offers strip and scrap fabric clubs, a sellout Sew-In every quarter, and holds charitable events that benefit southern Nevada youth, Toys for Tots, and a changing list of worthy causes.

The fresh colors and funky prints in this quilt make the traditional argyle design come alive.

Feather motifs and stippling accent the solid pink setting triangles and half diamonds in Out-of-the-Box Argyle.

Fabric placement in this version of Out-of-the-Box Argyle gives the quilt a three-dimensional look. It almost appears as if the center section is floating between the top and bottom rows of diamond shapes. The fabrics are placed in a dark to light arrangement, with the darker fabrics toward the top and bottom edges. The black sashing strips emphasize the diamond shapes. The blocks are oriented horizontally, rather than vertically like in the original quilt. This Asian-inspired rendition uses the Kingyo collection for Red Rooster Fabrics.
