Americana Wall Hanging

Americana Wall Hanging

Using Brannock & Patek's Hemming House Collection for Moda Fabrics, quilt tester Laura Boehnke created a subtle twist on Americana for her version of "Peppermint Patty." In each block center, Laura used assorted red stripes and plaids to surround the Nine-Patch unit. Then, to draw the whole wall hanging together, she repeated the use of a red stripe in the inner border.

Blue Ocean Waves

Blue Ocean Waves Wall Hanging

Serene aquas and cool blues rule in quilt tester Laura Boehnke's tranquil wall hanging made with the spa collection from Timeless Treasures. Soft prints and large floral fabrics result in Ocean Waves blocks with less defined edges, adding to the relaxed feel of the piece. Although you'll be able to make the 44" square quilt in a hurry, its calm colors invite you to slow down and simply enjoy the process.

Funky Crossroads Wall Hanging

Make a quick wall hanging version of "Contemporary Crossroads" like quilt tester Laura Boehnke did using Rosemarie Lavin's Harmony collection for Windham fabrics. With just four Arkansas crossroads blocks, attention goes right to the medallion shape formed where the blocks meet.

Although the prints in the Four-Patch units vary in color, value, and scale, they're all set off well by the same chocolate brown tone-on-tone used as the base of each Floating Star unit.

One-Patch Table Runner

Further simplify "Cherries Jubilee" as quilt tester Laura Boehnke did with her table runner version. This easy project, which features Jill Kemp's Twinkle Little Star collection from Red Rooster Fabrics, could be pieced overnight to give as a gift tomorrow. Laura added a 4"-wide-finished outer border to make a 22-1/2x42-1/2"-finished table runner.

Plush Posies

Plush Posies

Cotton prints and plush fabric create a sweet and irresistibly soft quilt. The diagonal basket-weave design, punctuated with green polka dot and dark pink, comes from cleverly placed color and straight-set blocks.

Criss Cross Table Topper

Electrify the muted colors of "Plush Posies" like quit tester Laura Boehnke did using Sue Zipkin's Samba collection for Clothworks. The solid outer border in Laura's version has the illusion of piecing, thanks to a fabric made up of multiple "print" squares.

By using just four blocks and borders the same size as the original, Laura created a 35-3/4"-square piece. Use it for a birthday party as a table topper.
