Call Me Crazy Color Option

Call Me Crazy Color Option
Quilt Maker: Laura Boehnke
From American Patchwork and Quilting, December 2007

The lush tones of olive, rust, and fuchsia highlight quilt tester Laura Boehke's two-row version of "Call Me Crazy." "The prints I used to make the crazy-pieced blocks have a lot of movement," Laura says. "I used a black and orange batik to frame the rows." Fabrics are from the Matrix and Bali Deep Dark Secrets collections, both for Benartex.

Festival of Trees Color Option

Festival of Trees Color Option
Quilt Maker: Laura Boehnke
From American Patchwork and Quilting, December 2007

With the hustle and bustle of the holidays approaching, quilt tester Laura Boehnke stitched up a four-block version that can be finished in just a few hours. Using plaids, stripes, and prints from the Farmhouse Cottons and Home Sweet Home collections by Joined at the Hip for Clothworks, Laura created a wall hanging with folk art appeal. "Instead of a satin stitch, I sewed a blanket stitch with black thread around the appliqués to set off the shapes, soft colors, and unique designs of each tree," Laura says.

Homespun Charm Color Option

Quilt Maker: Laura Boehnke
From American Patchwork and Quilting, December 2007

Using bright novelty prints with playful dinosaurs for Timeless Treasures, quilt tester Laura Boehnke made a fun and whimsical quilt. "I wanted to take advantage of the large squares to showcase a big print," Laura says. "The dinosaur prints were so cute, I just had to use them in this quilt!"

Poinsettia and Pine Color Option

Quilt Maker: Laura Boehnke
From American Patchwork and Quilting, December 2007

Using Lonni Rossi's Graceful Geishas and Harvest Dance collections for Andover Fabrics, quilt tester Laura Boehnke made a version of "Poinsettia and Pine" that's almost effortless. Laura featured a large-scale Asian print in the quilt center, eliminating the appliqué. "The metallic gold and vibrant red fabrics are so stunning," Laura says.

Spun Sugar Color Option

Quilt Maker: Laura Boehnke
From American Patchwork and Quilting, December 2007

Quilt tester Laura Boehnke's rendition of "Spun Sugar" using the Linda Potts and Marie Kelzer collections both from Westminster Fabrics features a beautiful tulip print.

"I fussy cut the tulip print for the center of the star and then used stripes, plaids, and a print that mimics a trellis," Laura says.

Laura made the inner border 2"-wide finished and the outer border is 4"-wide finished.
