Your creativity can be as big as the great outdoors?with the right tools of course. Hi, I'm Beth, and now you can put your sewing skills to work on outdoor projects, too, thanks to the new outdoor threads from Coats & Clark. Just like fabric for the outdoors, these threads are designed to resist the ravages of weather, including moisture and UV rays, so when you choose one of the 16 vibrant colors, it'll stay that way resisting sun fade. The continuous multifilament polyester threads strong enough for making heavy-duty repairs to boating items, tents, or other outdoor gear. And it's also right for your awnings, umbrellas, or outdoor upholstery projects like chair cushions. I'm working on some poolside pillows and there are a couple things to keep in mind when working with this thread. You'll need to adjust your machine for a longer stitch length. The thread is thicker than a normal thread so each stitch takes more room. You'll also want to increase the upper tension so the machine can pull this heavier thread up from the bobbin. You should use a size 18 or 20 needle when you're working with the thread, and Coats & Clark always recommends testing on a sample of the fabric you're working with before you get started so there are no surprises. This is the perfect way to put your own personal touch on your outdoor spaces, too. For more information visit CoatsandClark.com.
