Clipping and Pressing
It is not necessary to clip seam allowances when hand-piecing since you are able to ease the fabric into the curves as you stitch.
Stop sewing at the opposite matching points and make a backstitch or two. Trim the thread, leaving a short tail.
Press the seam allowance toward the convex piece.
