Sewing Curved Seams by Hand

<< PREVIOUS | 3 OF 5 | NEXT >>

Pinning

Layer the pieces with right sides together and center points aligned; the convex piece should be facing you. Pin the pieces together, perpendicular to the seam line at the center points.

Pinning perpendicular to the seam line and curling the pieces around your thumb, insert a pin at each end matching point, aligning the seam lines. Add pins about every 1/2" between the ends and the center. Keeping the convex piece against your thumbs and gently curling the fabric over them will allow you to ease in any excess fabric without creating folds or tucks.
