What Are Templates?

A template is a pattern made from extra-sturdy material so you can trace around it many times without wearing away the edges.

Permanent and Temporary Templates

To make permanent templates, we recommend using easy-to-cut template plastic, available at quilt shops and crafts supply stores. Its transparency lets you trace the pattern directly onto its surface.

Template plastic is ideal for making templates because no matter how often you trace around templates made from this material, you won't wear away the edges.
