Tulip Time Panel Quilt

Start with a panel—this one is from Fresh by Deb Strain for Moda Fabrics—and add a series of borders to make a bright and lively throw. Designer Patti Henderson surrounded the printed panel center with triangle-square, straight, and piano-key borders made with fabrics from the same collection.

Finish Quilt

1. Layer quilt top, batting, and backing; baste.

2. Quilt as desired. Machine-quilter Teri Sartain used variegated thread to outline-stitch motifs in the center panel, then filled background areas with vinelike tendrils. She stitched a large oval swirl in each triangle-square and two different curved designs in border Nos. 1 and 3. In border No. 4, Teri stitched evenly spaced parallel lines.

3. Bind with yellow polka dot binding strips.
