Tulip Time Panel Quilt

Start with a panel—this one is from Fresh by Deb Strain for Moda Fabrics—and add a series of borders to make a bright and lively throw. Designer Patti Henderson surrounded the printed panel center with triangle-square, straight, and piano-key borders made with fabrics from the same collection.

2. Cut strip sets into twenty-four 6-1/2"-wide segments.

3. Referring to Quilt Assembly Diagram, join six segments to make a border No. 4 strip. Press seams in one direction. The border No. 4 strip should be 6-1/2x60-1/2" including seam allowances. Repeat to make four total border No. 4 strips.

4. Join two border No. 4 strips to long edges of quilt center. Trim remaining two border No. 4 strips to 6-1/2x54-1/2" each and join to remaining edges of quilt center to complete quilt top. Press seams toward border No. 3.
