Assemble and Add Borders


1. Sew short inner border strips to opposite edges of quilt center. Add long inner border strips to remaining edges. Press all seams toward inner border.

2. Join tan check 1-1/4x20" strip and red print No. 1—1-1/4x20" strip to make left-hand middle border strip. Join red print No. 2—1-1/4x20" strip and light blue print 1-1/4x20" strip to make right-hand middle border strip. Referring to photo, right- and left-hand middle border strips to quilt center. Press all seams toward inner border.

3. Join tan check 1-1/4x20-3/4 strip and red print No. 2—1-1/4x20-3/4" strip to make top middle border strip. Join red print No. 1—1-1/4x20-3/4" strip and light blue print 1-1/4x20-3/4" strip to make bottom middle border strip. Add top and bottom middle border strips to remaining edges of quilt center. Press all seams toward inner border.

4. Sew short outer border strips to opposite edges of quilt center. Add long outer border strips to remaining edges to complete quilt top. Press all seams toward outer border.
