Assemble Blocks

1. Align a marked light green polka dot 2" square with each corner of a multicolor floral 6-1⁄2" square (Diagram 1; note directions of marked lines). Sew on marked lines. Trim excess, leaving 1⁄4" seam allowances. Press open attached triangles to make green block center. The block center should still be 6-1⁄2" square including seam allowances.

2. Repeat Step 1 to make a second green block center.

3. Using marked light pink polka dot 2" squares and remaining multicolor floral 6-1⁄2" square, repeat Step 1 to make a pink block center (Diagram 2).

4. Sew black polka dot 2x6-1⁄2" strips to opposite edges of a green block center (Diagram 3). Add black polka dot 2x9-1⁄2" strips to remaining edges. Press all seams toward black polka dot strips.

5. Align a marked green damask 3-1⁄2" square with each corner of Step 4 unit (Diagram 3; note directions of marked lines). Sew on marked lines. Trim excess, leaving 1⁄4" seam allowances. Press open attached triangles to make a green block (Diagram 4). The block should be 9-1⁄2" square including seam allowances.

6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to make a second green block.

7. Using remaining black polka dot 2x6-1⁄2" and 2x9-1⁄2" strips, pink block center, and marked pink damask 3-1⁄2" squares, repeat steps 4 and 5 to make a pink block (Diagram 5).
