Assemble Sawtooth Star Units


1. Use a pencil to mark a diagonal line on wrong side of each orange print and gold print 1-1/2" square.

2. Using a marked orange print 1-1/2" square, a marked gold print 1-1/2" square, and a violet-blue print 1-1/2x2-1/2" rectangle, refer to Assemble Star Blocks, steps 2 and 3, to make a small Flying Geese unit (Diagram 5). The small Flying Geese unit should be 2-1/2x1-1/2" including seam allowances. Repeat to make 80 small Flying Geese units total.


3. Referring to Diagram 6, sew together four violet-blue print 1-1/2" squares, four small Flying Geese units, and one red star print 2-1/2" square in rows. Press seams away from Flying Geese units. Join rows to make a Sawtooth Star unit; press seams away from center row. The unit should be 4-1/2" square including seam allowances. Repeat to make 20 Sawtooth Star units total. {C}
