PROJECTS & IDEAS | THROWS & WALL

Summer Chevrons

Purposefully arranged triangle-squares produce a chevron pattern in a summer-theme wall hanging. Pops of color in the patterned border echo the bright prints and batiks in the quilt center. Fabrics are from the Flip Floppin Summer Fun collection by Wendy Bentley and Tonga Treat Strip Bazaar collection, both for Timeless Treasures Fabrics.

Make Triangle-Squares

1. Use a pencil to draw a diagonal line on wrong side of each mottled tan 4-7⁄8" square.

2. Layer a marked mottled tan square atop a batik or bright print 4-7⁄8" square. Sew pair together with two seams, stitching 1⁄4" on each side of drawn line (Diagram 1). Cut apart on drawn line to make two triangle units. Press triangle units open, pressing seams toward mottled tan, to make two triangle-squares. Each should be 4-1⁄2" square including seam allowances.

3. Repeat Step 2 to make 80 triangle-squares total.
