Radiant Squares Wall Hanging

Assemble Blocks

1. Referring to Diagram 1 for color placement, arrange the following squares in six rows: one solid black, two black print No. 1, three black print No. 2, four black print No. 3, five black print No. 4, six black print No. 5, five black print No. 6, four red print No. 4, three red print No. 3, two red print No. 2, and one red print No. 1.

2. Sew together squares in each row. Press seams in each row in direction indicated by arrows in Diagram 1.

3. Join rows to make a red block. Press seams toward top of block. The block should be 15-1/2" square including seam allowances.

4. Repeat steps 1–3 to make eight red blocks total. To make eventual quilt top construction easier, follow arrows in Diagram 2, pressing seams up in four blocks (red A blocks) and down in four red blocks (red B blocks).

5. Referring to Diagram 3, arrange the following squares in six rows: one solid black, two black print No. 1, three black print No. 2, four black print No. 3, five black print No. 4, six black print No. 5, five black print No. 6, four yellow print No. 4, three yellow print No. 3, two yellow print No. 2, and one yellow print No. 1.

6. Sew together squares in each row. Press seams in each row in direction indicated in Diagram 3.

7. Join rows to make a yellow block. Press seams toward top of block. The block should be 15-1/2" square including seam allowances.

8. Repeat steps 5–7 to make eight yellow blocks total. Referring to Diagram 4, press seams up in four blocks (yellow A blocks) and down in four blocks (yellow B blocks).
