Assemble Block Centers
1. On the wrong side of each purple print 3-1/2" square, use a pencil to draw diagonal, horizontal, and vertical lines across the center (Diagram 1). Take care that these lines are exact; they will help you trim the blocks and keep the blocks square when adding the succeeding rings to block centers.
2. Use a pencil to draw a diagonal line on wrong side of all mottled orange 2" squares.
3. Referring to Diagram 2, align marked mottled orange squares with opposite corners of a marked purple print square. Sew on marked lines. Trim seam allowances to 1/4". Open attached mottled orange triangles and press seams toward mottled orange. In same manner, add marked mottled orange squares to remaining corners to make a block center (Diagram 2). The block center should be 3-1/2" square including seam allowances. Repeat to make four block centers total.
