Batik Patches Quilt

Combine dozens of batiks in a rainbow palette to create a scrappy lap-size quilt. The 25-Patch blocks feature randomly placed lights and darks while each Nine-Patch block uses just two batiks. Fabrics are from the Batik Paradise collection from Connecting Threads.

Materials

Inspired by Mourning Glory from quilt collector Miriam Kujac
Quilt tester: Laura Boehnke

1-3/4 yards total assorted light and dark batiks in yellow, tan, cream, blue, red, green, orange, black, and purple (blocks)
1-3/4 yards blue batik (sashing, border, binding)
2-7/8 yards backing fabric
50x64" batting

Finished quilt: 41-1/4 x 55-1/4"
Finished blocks: 25-Patch, 8-3/4" square; Nine-Patch, 5-1/4" square

Quantities are for 44/45"-wide, 100% cotton fabric. Measurements include 1/4" seam allowances. Sew with right sides together unless otherwise stated.
