Batik Jewels Quilt

Careful color placement of large triangle-square units in jewel-tone batiks and prints creates a diagonal-stripe effect. These prints are from Yolanda Fundora’s Earthlight collection, and batiks are from the Sumatra collection, both from Blank Quilting.

Materials

Inspired by Added interest from designer Lynn Schmitt Cibulka of A Different Box of Crayons
Quilt tester: Laura Boehnke

1—18x22" piece (fat quarter) each of gold, green, and red prints (triangle-squares)
1/3 yard each of purple, blue, and light green prints (triangle-squares)
1/8 yard each of brown, green, gold, rust, and red batiks (blocks)
1/3 yard moss green batik (blocks)
1/4 yard each of violet-blue, purple, blue, dark blue, and lime green batiks (blocks)
1/3 yard dark gray batik (inner border)
1-5/8 yards pink-and-purple batik (outer border, binding)
3-1/2 yards backing fabric
62x75" batting

Finished quilt: 53-1/2x66-1/2"
Finished blocks: 13" square

Quantities are for 44/45"-wide, 100% cotton fabrics.
Measurements include 1/4" seam allowances. Sew with right sides together unless otherwise stated.
