Assemble Units
1. Use a pencil to mark a diagonal line on wrong side of each assorted white print 2-1/2" square. (To prevent fabric from stretching as you draw the lines, place 220-grit sandpaper under each square.)
2. Align a marked white print square with one end of an assorted blue print 2-1/2x4-1/2" rectangle (Diagram 1; note direction of marked line). Sew on drawn line; trim excess fabric, leaving a 1/4" seam allowance. Press open attached triangle to make a blue small unit. The small unit should be 2-1/2x4-1/2" including seam allowances. Repeat to make 20 blue small units total.
3. Repeat Step 2 using marked white print squares and assorted red print 2-1/2x4-1/2" rectangles to make 20 red small units total.
4. Align a marked white print square with one end of an assorted blue print 2-1/2x6-1/2" rectangle (Diagram 2; note direction of marked line). Sew on drawn line; trim excess fabric, leaving a 1/4" seam allowance. Press open attached triangle to make a blue large unit. The large unit should be 2-1/2x6-1/2" including seam allowances. Repeat to make eight blue large units total.
5. Repeat Step 4 using marked white print squares and assorted red print 2-1/2x6-1/2" rectangles to make eight red large units total.
