Split Personality - Crazy Four-Patch

Quilt Designer: Mabeth Oxenreider
From American Patchwork & Quilting, February 2006

This quilt has just two blocks: a simple four-patch and a solid block. But the solid block is actually fabric that is pieced and cut into squares. Although the dark squares of the four-patch create a vertical line, it’s hard to see with all the activity created by the randomly pieced “solid” blocks. Contrast it with the next quilt, which is the same pattern.
