Delectable Inspirations
Quilt Designer: Mabeth Oxenreider
From American Patchwork & Quilting, June 2005
A line of fabric inspired this quilt, but it wasn’t enough for Mabeth—in addition, she pulled fabrics from her stash to add to the mix. “You can’t get too many fabrics in a quilt,” she says. “And it’s important to have a range of values. Sometimes a single line of fabric won’t have enough variation in lights and darks.” This quilt highlights one of Mabeth’s favorite tricks: using a striped fabric as a border to provide a frame for the quilt’s center and to create a stopping point for the eye.
