Opposites Attract
Quilt Designer: Mabeth Oxenreider
From Quilts and More, 2005
This quilt started as a way to showcase a line of black-and-white fabrics, but Mabeth knew it needed something more to give it a bit of punch. The red stars that spill over the dark sashing and into the black border provide a surprise element in a quilt with a strongly geometric feel. “Borders are really important to the overall finished quilt and they’re a place where a lot of quilters get into trouble,” Mabeth says. “I always say to measure the quilt several times before cutting borders.”
