House and Heart Pillow

Use precut 10-inch squares and fat quarters to create a reversible pillow. Appliqué house and heart shapes, then frame each appliquéd block with stripe and tone-on-tone borders. Fabrics are from the Pinfeathers collection by Carina Gardner and Simply Basics, both from Northcott Fabrics.

Materials

Inspired by Home at Last from designer Julie Herman of Jaybird Quilts
Project tester: Jill Abeloe Mead

3/8 yard multicolor stripe (appliqué, middle borders)
1/2 yard tan bird print (appliqués, pillow front outer border)
18x22" piece (fat quarter) tan stripe (inner borders)
18x22" piece (fat quarter) dark tan tone-on-tone (pillow back outer border)
2—10" squares assorted light tan tone-on-tones (block backgrounds) z
1/4"-diameter button: black
Polyester fiberfill

Finished pillow: 15-1/2" square
Finished block: 9-1/2" square

Quantities are for 44/45"-wide, 100% cotton fabrics.
Measurements include 1/4" seam allowances. Sew with right sides together unless otherwise stated.
