Machine-outline-quilting around each appliqué shape and a dense pebble pattern inside each purple appliqué shape call attention to the appliqué motifs on Desert Flowers. Staff member and resident machine-quilter Jimmy McCarthy filled the remaining areas of the quilt top with symmetrical feather designs.
