Quilt Expressions in Garden City, Idaho, guides quilters through projects from start to finish.
Quilt Expressions, home to 6,000 fabric bolts, attracts customers from all over the country.
Staff members and customers enjoy gathering at the well-lit cutting table. In addition to florescent lighting, natural light from the shop’s 13 skylights keeps things bright.
Front row, from left: Kristi Funk, Karen Hanson (owner), Della Toth, and Carol Caba; middle row: Tracey Braithwaite, Stacey Herbener, Danielle Jensen, Rodi Dumas, and Cheryl Neruda; back row: Kathy Moffis and Kathie Passarino.
To finish their projects, quilters rent time on any of the four long-arm machines at Quilt Expressions.
A faux balcony provides plenty of space to drape and display quilts at the shop.
Bunches of hand-dyed wools and bolts of fabric are organized by color.
One of the shop’s patterns, Run for the Border, is designed to showcase a border print. The stitched sample features western-theme fabric.
Fresh and modern fabrics, including this collection from Sweetwater, greet customers at the shop’s entrance.
Shop owner Karen Hanson designed a bright and cheery throw, Star Burst, for Quilt Sampler® Spring/Summer 2013 magazine.
Karen Hanson machine-quilted Star Burst with an allover swirl design.
