Sew Simple Purse
Learning to sew? Here's a great beginner project. This trendy bag is made from the Sunshine & Shadow collection by Jane Sassaman for Freespirit and handles are by Purse n-alize-it!, which are available at Jo-Ann Stores.

Pick-It Fences [9]

White’s nice, but color knows no boundaries. Corral prints, dots, and florals in rainbow hues to give Rail Fence blocks bursts of brights.
Pick-It Fences Color Option [11]
Rail Fence Pillow
Sew four blocks of a variety of favorite solids, and set them on point with another cool-tone solid to make a 16"-square pillow. Quilt tester Kathleen Williams chose Kona cotton solids from Robert Kaufman Fabrics for this calming, restful pillow.

Capitalize on eye-catching prints for an oversize throw with a quick-to-piece symmetrical arrangement of large fabric cuts and a coordinating pillowcase.

Easy Rectangles Quilt
To add sparkle and interest to a simple quilt, first choose a big print, then select smaller prints that vary in scale and take their color cues from the big print. These fabrics are from the Radiance collection by Judy Hansen for Paintbrush Studio.

Quilted Camera Case
Quilt, cut, sew, and go. In short order you’ll have an on-the-go case that cushions your camera and is personalized to suit your destination. If you’ve a fear of making a buttonhole, use hook-and-loop tape for the closure. This village-theme novelty print is from the Tiny Town collection for Timeless Treasures Fabrics.

Baby Steps [29]

Showcase bits of 1930s reproduction fabrics in an easy-to-handle quilt that's the ideal size for a stroller.
Baby Steps Color Option [31]

Courthouse Steps Crib Quilt
By using a two-tone palette instead of a scrappy one, strong diagonal lines appear across this crib-size quilt. Quilt tester Kathleen Williams carefully positioned prints from two fabric collections—Farm House Retreat and Itsy Bits—both by Renee Nanneman for Andover Fabrics in the pieced blocks and fussy-cut setting squares.

Made in the Shade [34]

Dress up your digs with a lamp-theme wall hanging that sheds light on simple piecing and appliqué techniques.
Made in the Shade Color Option [36]

Appliquéd Lamps Wall Quilt
With a nod toward antique English blue-and-white porcelain and traditional ginger-jar lamps, quilt tester Monique Dillard collected prints reminiscent of floral hand-painted china to compose this two-color version of Made in the Shade. To balance the assorted florals, she used stripes and dots for some of the block foundations and appliqués.

Soft &Simple [39]

Let the texture do the talking on this easy throw made from soft, smooth, lightweight cotton lawn.
Soft & Simple Color Option [41]

Stacked Rectangles Quilt
We love how Soft & Simple is a perfect pattern for 10-inch fabric squares. Quilt tester Mary Pepper chose two Layer Cakes (Moda’s name for packaged 10-inch squares) from Collections for a Cause–Faith by Howard Marcus Dunn for Moda Fabrics to make the center rectangles. She used extra yardage from a dark print to surround the pieced center.
