Gone to Pieces

Quilt Collector: Kaye England
From American Patchwork and Quilting, February 2008

In this stunner, medium floral and geometric prints coordinate with solid-color cottons that were popular in the 1930s. Quilt collector Kaye England believes this vintage quilt is the work of a child around that time. “The stitching is irregular, and many of the blocks don’t fit together. Despite that—or maybe because of it—I love this quilt.” Although this quilt may not seem like child’s play today, Nine-Patch blocks are perfect for improving precision-piecing skills. With so much practice, you’ll be stitching exact 1/4" seams in no time.
