Festive Fireworks

Add patriotic bursts to a plain pillow with simple machine straight-stitching. The dark blue background serves as a night sky for the red and white metallic sparklers.

Bubble Up

Designer: Sachiko Aldous

Raw-edge appliqué done block by block makes it easier to manage a big quilt as you machine stitch. Extra circles covering seam intersections create the illusion of a sea of bubbles on a single background.

Bright and Bubbly Pillow

Happy appliquéd circles arranged in a flower shape fill a bright pillow. The ragged edges of the appliqués add to the project’s breezy charm while orange piping frames the aqua background and echoes the center circle. Fabrics are from the Honey Honey collection by Kate Spain for Moda Fabrics.
