There are two Quilt Beginnings shops in the Columbus, Ohio, area: the flagship shop (shown) on the city’s east side and a more contemporary shop on the north side.
The east-side shop showcases a range of fabrics and plenty of stitched samples.

Seas of Solids
At Quilt Beginnings, fabric collections represent the latest collections of traditional, modern, seasonal, and 1930s options. Solids play a starring role in creating two striking quilts: Kaleidoscope of Colors by South Seas (hanging, left) and Amish Crossroads by Quilt Beginnings (hanging, right).
Quilt Beginnings provides all kinds of blocks for every skill level. Nearly 400 quilters participate in block-of-the-month programs, such as this Holiday Houses project from Debra Gabel of Zebra Patterns.
Finished samples of quilts, bags, table mats, and other objects abound at both Quilt Beginnings locations.
Pair of Purses
Stripes are a hit on this pair of purses, both from Aunties Two. The vertical stripe Hobo Bag features a braided strap. The Bali Bag horizontally striped, sports leather handles.
Connect the Stars
Quilt Beginnings shop owner Cathy Daum designed a bed quilt, Connect the Stars, for Quilt Sampler® Fall/Winter 2012 magazine.
Jill Maiher, an employee at Quilt Beginnings, machine-quilted swirling feather designs across the quilt center and border Nos. 1 and 5. She stitched a scalloped line through border Nos. 2 and 4 and added a leaf pattern in each Flying Geese unit.
