Karen Gray Design

A fun atmosphere, brightly colored fabrics, and "Sew Pro's" make quilting as breeze as this North Carolina shop.

Meet the Staff

Seated, from left: Cathy Zaluka and Barbara Thompson; standing: Gina Allen, Karen Gray (owner), and Susan Lauer.

Fresh and Simple

With each fabric collection grouped together, navigating the shop is a breeze. Enroll in one of the many classes taught by "Sew Pros" to learn everything from sewing basics to garment assembly.

Premade Modern

Visitors inspired by the likes of Amy Butler and Valori Wells can purchase ready-made accessories or take classes to learn how to handcraft their own objects.

Pave the Way

Shop owner Karen L. Gray designed Pave the Way for Quilt Sampler® Spring/Summer 2011 magazine.

Machine-Quilting Details

Machine-quilter Gina Allen created an all-over stipple design across Pave the Way.

Pave the Way Color Option

Instead of creating the floating effect of the original, quilt tester Laura Boehnke framed each vertical row with brown print sashing and borders. Light pink squares allow the playful novelty prints to pop on this quilt, which is perfect for a preteen. Fabrics are from the Feeling Groovy collection for Riley Blake Designs.
