Colorful Coordinates

Cotton & Chocolate Quilt Company stocks an extensive variety of fabrics and aims to provide a bevy of options. The shop has a wall of coordinates filled with everything from polka dots to tone-on-tones to reproductions to contemporary prints.

Bubble Gum Stars

Cotton & Chocolate Quilt Company owner Marilyn Petersen designed Bubble Gum Stars for Quilt Sampler® Spring/Summer 2012 magazine. Chocolate brown and bubble gum pink combine with exquisite quilting for a delectable throw.

Machine-Quilting Details

Debra Haigh and Andrea Gillingham machine-quilted a feathered plume radiating from the center of each star block. In the Nine-Patch units they stitched an X in each square.

Bubble Gum Stars Color Option

The flowers in the multicolor border print gave quilt tester Laura Boehnke an idea for color placement in her Double Nine-Patch blocks. “Each Nine-Patch unit has a yellow center. The four corners match the adjacent setting squares in the Double Nine-Patch blocks,” Laura says. “To me the quilt center looks like it repeats the flowers in the outer border.” Fabrics are from the Avalon collection by Jason Yenter and other collections from In the Beginning Fabrics.
