Mystery Row Quilt: Row 4

Just want to make Row 4 of our 2016 Mystery Row Quilt? Here are the yardage requirements and complete instructions as published in American Patchwork & Quilting August 2016. Fabrics are from the Hometown Girl Batiks collection by Pat Sloan for Moda Fabrics.

Materials for Row 4

•    1⁄2 yard cream circle batik (blocks, sashing)

•    1⁄8 yard each navy batik and red sun batik (blocks)

•    1⁄8 yard each aqua swirl batik and multicolor swirl batik (block centers)


Finished Row 4 block: 9" square

Finished Row 4: 9×60"


Yardages and cutting instructions are based on 42" of usable fabric width.

Measurements include 1⁄4" seam allowances. Sew with right sides together unless otherwise stated.

Press seams in directions indicated by arrows on diagrams. If no direction is specified, press seam toward darker fabric.



Cut Fabrics for Row 4

Cut pieces in the following order. 


From cream circle batik, cut:

•    2—3-1⁄2 ×9-1⁄2" rectangles

•    12—3-7⁄8" squares

•    6—2×21" strips

From navy batik, cut:

•    3—2×21" strips

•    6—3-7⁄8" squares

From red sun batik, cut:

•    3—2×21" strips

•    6—3-7⁄8" squares

From aqua swirl batik, cut:

•    3—3-1⁄2" squares

From multicolor swirl batik, cut:

•    3—3-1⁄2" squares
