Round 1: Kari

Kari worked with batiks and templates to piece a medallion-style center surrounded by a cream border.

Round 2: Terri

Terri re-created Kari’s center in Adobe Illustrator in order to repeat the “funky” 15° angles. This addition changed the appearance of Kari’s cream border, making it mimic the four rounded curves of the center medallion.

Round 3: Terry

Inspired by a catalog photo, Terry added a border of light Drunkard’s Path units on a dark background.

Round 4: Gudrun

Gudrun arrived at an "aha" moment when she opted to put the quilt on point, adding large triangles to each corner and finishing the design with pieced Flying Geese.

Kari's Final Touches

Wanting to make sure the final round was really the end of design work on the quilt, the four designers spent time in the American Patchwork & Quilting Crafts Lab after the big reveals were finished.

Kari's Finished Quilt

Kari's quilt, which she named SYN.ER.GY, combines thoughtful elements from each designer. What Kari learned most about the Round Robin process--"You've got to trust your instincts, relax, and look for what the quilt needs next."
