Feather Quilting Designs
Sash and Dash
Connie Gresham machine-quilted a swirling feather design across the quilt top.
Maggi Honeyman machine-quilted a square feathered wreath in each block. She stitched rows of diamonds in the sashing and added feathered paisley motifs in the inner and outer borders. In the middle border, she stitched a continuous feathered vine.
To create cross-hatching, Jacqueline Pohl machine-quilted diagonally through the center of each Nine-Patch unit and 3-1⁄2" square in the Double Nine-Patch blocks. She stitched a feathered leaf design in the setting blocks and a feathered vine in the setting and corner triangles and borders.
Using variegated thread, Theresa Ward machine-quilted four-pointed stars in each square of the blocks and flowing feather designs in the light green batik unit backgrounds and inner border.
Wrapped in Red
Designer Natalia Bonner machine-quilted a feather design in the background around the floating stars and bubbles in the background around the remaining stars. She stitched simple floral motifs and curved lines in the red stars.
Follow the Curves
Terri Kanyuck machine-quilted a feathered leaf in the center of each arc block and added triangular feather designs in the arc block backgrounds. She combined echo-quilting and feather motifs in the Lover’s Knot blocks.
Cathy Peters and Lynn Graham machine-quilted a feathered wreath in each block center and filled in the block backgrounds with a small diagonal grid. They stitched a cable design in the sashing rectangles and added a larger diagonal grid in the setting and corner triangles.
Kaylene Parry machine-quilted small- and large-scale feather designs in the blocks and borders. She stitched a teardrop vine in the sashing strips and a floral motif in each sashing square.
Connie Gresham machine-quilted a four-part feather design in some blocks and a feathered flower design in other blocks. She quilted full and partial flower motifs in the border.
Dawn Larsen machine-quilted a swirling allover design in the quilt center and stitched a feather pattern in the outer border.
Maple Leaf Farm
Machine-quilter Bernie Farris combined echo quilting, feather patterns, and dense wave designs in the appliquéd units. She filled the remaining portions of the quilt center with a variety of feather designs and featured a three- or four-leaf pattern in each Maple Leaf block.
Lorre Fleming machine-quilted a large overall feather design across the quilt top.
