Prepare Binding Strips

Double-layer (also called French-fold) binding is easy to apply and adds durability to your finished quilts. From start to finish, here's a visual guide for how to apply double-layer binding.

The cutting instructions for each project tell you how many binding strips to cut and what the width and length of each should be. Unless otherwise specified, cut binding strips on the straight of grain of the fabric. Join the binding strips with diagonal seams to make one long binding strip.

Place binding strips perpendicular to each other and stitch. After stitching, reduce bulk by pressing seams open. Trim seams to 1/4".
