Pat Sloan – Behind the scenes

I’d love to show you some behind the scenes during my interview at the International Quilt Study Center and Museum in Lincoln NE  with Curator Carol Ducey in the green and Communications Coordinator Maureen Ose in the blue. (click here to the museum website)

When you listen to the interview you’ll hear me talk about displaying some of the more delicate quilts flat. This is what I mean.

I was super privledged to have a workroom tour.. this is the first part. All the tables have quilts on them that are being studied. I’ll show you one in a bit. The blue arrow is the storage room. Here we go!

Quilts as far as the eye can see!

I think I might have been speechless which is a difficult thing to achieve  (if you know me you know this is true!)

The boxes are numbered, labeled, and many have photos of the quilts stored in them.

What a thrill to be able to look inside!

Wow… lovely old quilts…be still my heart!

Many of the very delicate quilts are stored flat on these trays.

Lastly I had the chance to see several quilts by Yvonne Wells that were being prepared for the next exhibit.

There are also programs running during this exhibit that you should really try and go to.  CLICK HERE to the newsroom page and download the exhibit information. If you can’t visit in person, take a virtual tour of the International Quilt Study Center and Museum.
