I Am A Quilter: Beverly Powell

Original project: Pink Lemonade, American Patchwork & Quilting, April 2009

The gift: I made this quilt for my friend Toni to celebrate more than 40 years of friendship.

Make it work: This pattern was perfect for pulling together a stack of scrappy 6-inch Sawtooth Star blocks I’d already made. The original pattern called for 4-inch stars, so I modified the size of the Irish Chain blocks and pieced them from hand-dyed fabrics.

Quilting paradise: Living in the tropics, I’m surrounded and inspired by vibrant colors.
