Make and Add Appliques

To use fusible web for appliquéing flower pieces, complete the following steps.

1. Lay fusible web, paper side up, over designated patterns. Use a pencil to trace each pattern the number of times indicated in cutting instructions, leaving 1⁄2" between tracings. Cut out each fusible-web shape roughly 1⁄4" outside traced lines.

2. Repeat, reversing patterns used in Step 1. To reverse image, tape the designated patterns facedown on a light box or sunny window. Secure a piece of fusible web over the shape and trace with a pencil. Cut out as before.

3. Following the manufacturer’s instructions, press each fusible- web shape onto wrong side of designated fabric; let cool. Cut out appliqué shapes on drawn lines. Peel off paper backings.

4. Referring to photo, position each appliqué shapes on one side of flower foundation. Following manufacturer’s instructions, fuse all pieces in place. Repeat with reversed appliqué shapes on remaining side of flower foundation to make flower top.
