Tips For Working With Minkee
Minkee stretches crosswise but very little along the lengthwise grain (parallel to the selvedge).
Minkee fabric “sheds” when cut—keep a lint roller handy! Or, take your cut pieces out of doors and shake well before sewing.
Use a walking foot to prevent the fabric from slipping as you sew.
Use a longer than normal stitch —3.0 to 3.5mm — to keep seams from puckering.
Finger press the seams open; Minkee does not like the heat of an iron.
* “Minkee” is the name Benartex gives to the soft, knit-back fleece they produce. Recreate the eye masks shown by cutting and sewing a basic eye-pillow shape from minkee. Leave an opening to fill the pillow with the eye pillow filler recipe that follows. Then stitch the pillow shut, kick back and relax!
