Ready-When-You-Are Binding
When I cut the pieces for a quilt, I completely prepare the binding strip for the project, roll it up, and store it until I finish the top. This way I don't finish the quilt months later to find that I accidentally used my binding fabric for another project. It's always a bonus to find the binding ready to be sewn when the quilt is finished.
Cindy B. McPherson, Kansas

Stick to It
For my quilts, I like to custom-design machine-quilting patterns. I needle-punch my designs onto tracing paper, then secure the paper pattern to the quilt with 1/4" double-sided crafts tape. The tape eliminates the need for straight or safety pins, removes easily, and saves time.
Christina D. Valinda, California

Seams Right
When I sewed over seams that faced the machine, many of them turned and I ended up sewing them in the direction opposite of what I intended. I made a bridge of transparent tape from the edge of my sewing machine to the feed dogs and it solved the problem. The tape is smooth and slippery and the seams slide right along without bending backward.
Sandi W. Cedar Hill, Missouri
