Understand Color Choices

Selecting just the right fabrics in just the right colors is part of the fun of quilting. However, this step in the quiltmaking process also can be the most daunting. Understanding how your fabric and color choices affect the overall appearance of a finished quilt can help make the selection process easier.

Whether you’re selecting scraps from your stash or buying all of the fabrics at once for a project, the array of colors and designs can be both exciting and intimidating. While there are no “wrong” fabric choices, some combinations are more pleasing to the eye than others. Over time, you’ll come to know what works best for you and become more confident in your choices.
